Glen Burt, 80, Dies; Rites Set Tuesday
Glen Burt, 80, Estherville, died at noon Sunday [December 6, 1970] at Balmer’s Nursing Home. He was born Jan. 26, 1890, at Armstrong to Andrew and Susan Mitchell Burt. He was educated in the Armstrong schools.On Jan. 10, 1914, he was united in marriage to Gladys Kennedy at Armstrong. After their marriage, they farmed in the Armstrong area. Mrs. Burt died in 1936.
In 1944, Mr. Burt moved to Estherville and worked at the Tobin packing plant until he retired in 1957.
He is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Merton (Elizabeth) McKean, Goldfield; Mrs. Rosswell (Helen) Aust, Des Moines; Mrs. Chester (Dorothy) Arndt, Des Moines; two sons, Joseph and James of Estherville; 16 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, one sister, Mrs. Neil Helmers, Estherville; and three brothers, Andrew and Alva, Armstrong; and Robert, Fenton.
He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, one son, one brother, one sister and one granddaughter.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Presbyterian Church at Armstrong with the Rev. Richard Headen and the Rev. Leslie Lewis officiating. Burial will be in Armstrong Grove Cemetery.
Friends may call at the Reese-Henry Funeral Home at Estherville after 1 p.m. Monday until 11 a.m. Tuesday morning. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, December 7, 1970)
