Armstrong – Services for Vida Burgess, 96, of Armstrong, will be held on Tuesday, November 5 at the Free Methodist church in Armstrong with Rev. Don Redlinger officiating. Internment will be at Armstrong Grove Cemetery. She died November 1, 1996 at Valley View Care Center in Armstrong.Visitation will be held on Monday, November 4 from 4 to 8 p.m. at Henry-Olson-Fuhrman Funeral home in Armstrong.
She was born February 27, 1900 in Seneca, the daughter of Louis and Helen (Harris) Eckholm. She received her education from Seneca and Swea City schools. She was united in marriage to Nicholas Burgess on June 2, 1920 in Estherville. They lived in the Armstrong area most of their life. They did custom shelling, thrashing and grain hauling for area farmers.
Survivors are two sons, Fae of Wellington, Az. and Darrell of Armstrong; two daughters, Mrs. Walter (Delores) Fangman of Shell Knob, Mo. and Mrs. Charles (Marvea) Clymer of Armstrong, 26 grandchildren and 50 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Louis [Nick] on March 28, 1970, five daughters and two sons. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, November 4, 1996)
