Armstrong – Services for LeRoy Edward Burgess, 62, will be held Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at Henry-Olson-Fuhrman Funeral Chapel in Armstrong with Pastor Donohue Sarff officiating. Interment will be in Armstrong Grove Cemetery with military service by V.F.W. Post 5232. He died Thursday, June 7, 1990 at Armstrong.

He was born October 14, 1927 at Armstrong, the son of Edward and Lillie (Jones) Burgess. He was a retired Staff Sergeant after 32 years in the service with the United States Army in Japan, Germany, Korea and Vietnam. He served during World War Two, Korean War and Vietnam War in the armored division. He lived in Cadillac, Mich. until September of 1979 when [he] came to Armstrong and lived with his sister Donna until moving into a home of his own. He never married.

Survivors include his brother, Gilbert, Estherville; sisters, Mavis Loewenberg, Estherville; Mary Alice Woody, Cape Girardeau, Mo. and Donna Grabianowski, Armstrong; many nieces, nephews and several grand nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister; three brothers nieces and nephews. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, June 13, 1990)
