ARMSTRONG, Iowa - Services for Melvin L. Brown, 89, of Armstrong will be 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 28, 2011, at Nazareth Lutheran Church, Armstrong, with Pastor Vance Toivonen officiating. Burial will be in Armstrong Grove Cemetery.

Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Monday at Henry-Olson Funeral Chapel, Armstrong.

Melvin Lorenzo Brown the son of William and Winifred (Osborn) Brown, was born Sept. 29, 1921, in Armstrong, Iowa. He died on Thursday, June 23, 2011, at Fairmont Medical Center in Fairmont, Minn., at the age of 89.

He received his education in Armstrong Schools.

On Oct. 3, 1945, Melvin was united in marriage to Muriel Opsal. Melvin owned and operated Brown Trucking for 41 years. Muriel died in 1994. Melvin enjoyed reading and traveling.

He was a member of Nazareth Lutheran Church in Armstrong where he was very active.

Left to cherish Melvin's memory are his brothers-in-law; sisters-in-law; nieces and nephews.

Preceding Melvin in death were his wife; parents; brother, Wilfred; and nephew, Tron Sanftner. (Fairmont Sentinel, Fairmont, MN June 25, 2011)
