Armstrong – Services for Wilfred James Brown, 61, will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. in First Presbyterian Church at Armstrong with the Rev. Dr. John Besore, III and the Rev. Gerald Ray Dolf officiating. Interment will be in Armstrong Grove Cemetery with full military honors by Armstrong Veterans of Foreign Wars. He died Monday, March 12, 1990 near Whittemore.Friends may call at Henry-Olson-Fuhrman Funeral Home in Armstrong from 4-9 p.m. Wednesday.
He was born Feb. 10, 1929 near Armstrong, the son of William and Winifred (Osborn) Brown. He graduated from Armstrong High School in 1947 and attended Estherville Junior College. On Sept. 3, 1950 he was united in marriage with Helen Grussing at Armstrong. After Junior College, he farmed with father before serving in the Marine Corps in Korea during the conflict; following service he came back to the Armstrong area to farm near Armstrong. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, a past Trustee and Elder and a member of Emmet County Pork Producers.
He is survived by his wife Helen, Armstrong; mother Mrs. Winifred Brown, Fairmont, Minn.; two daughters: Mrs. Dwight (Janet) Laidig, Mason City and Mrs. Gerald (Marilyn) Dolf, Taunton, Mass.; one son Gary of Armstrong; six grandchildren and one brother Melvin Brown of Armstrong.
He was preceded in death by his father. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, March 14, 1990)
