Funeral services for Leona Mae Bloyer, 84, of Spirit Lake, were held Friday, May 17, 1985, 1:30 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church, in Spirit Lake, with Rev. Walter Hammer and Rev. Clifford Lee officiating. Bloyer died Sunday, May 12, 1985 in Spirit Lake.Dan Foote, organist, and Bob Foote, pianist, accompanied vocalist, Debbie Foote. Pallbearers were Rodney Bloyer, Arnold Carstensen, Delmar Phillips, Cliff Carlson, Dudley Short, Jerry Foote, Wylli Foote. Interment was in the Armstrong Grove Cemetery, in Armstrong.
Leona Mae Bloyer was born to Ullysis and Minna Bloyer [Corderman] at Sac City, IA., on May 27 [18?], 1900. She attended school at Sac City, graduating in 1918.
On July 30, 1919 she married Clyde B. Binkley [Warren] Bloyer at Sac City. Nine children were born to this union.
Bloyer was a charter member of the Faith Evangelical Free Church.
Survivors include her children: Mrs. Clifford (Betty) Lee, of Curacao, Netherlands Antilles, Glen C. Bloyer, Curacao Netherlandds Antilles and David Bloyer of Kirkland, WA.; 25 grandchildren and 37 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, two daughters, June Foote and Virginia Trow, and four sons, Warren and Alvin, and to in infancy.
The Donovan-Leyson Funeral Home in Spirit Lake, was in charge of arrangements. (Spirit Lake Beacon, Spirit Lake, IA, May 30, 1985)
