Obituary
A long illness was fatal Sunday night to Mrs. Hannah Bergeson, 69, of Estherville. She had been confined to her bed since June.

Mrs. Bergeson [Hannah Anniah Williams] was born on March 5, 1875 at Story City [per 1885 Iowa Census, born in Illinois], the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Elling Williams. In 1893 she was married to Geo. H. Bergeson of Ellsworth, Iowa, and lived there for seven years prior to moving to Red River Falls and Armstrong. The greater share of Mr. and Mrs. Bergeson’s life in Emmet County, however, was spent in the Gruver community. Mr. Bergeson died in 1939 and Mrs. Bergeson moved to Estherville in 1941.

Of the 13 children born to Mr. and Mrs. Bergeson, eight survive. They are Harvey of Oak Lawn, Ill., Roy of Los Angeles, Calif., Archie of Tigerton, Wis., Lester, Mrs. Guy Ramsey and Mrs. Lane Tostenrud of Estherville, Mrs. Thos. McKean of Gruver and Mrs. Luther Ford of Burbank, Calif.

Seventeen grandchildren also survive, one great grandchildren, two brothers, L.E. Williams of Ellsworth and Will Williams of White Bear Lake, Minn.

Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at one-thirty from the home and at two-thirty from the Gruver Community church. (Vindicator and Republican, Estherville, IA, September 21, 1944)

Illness Fatal To Mrs. Bergeson, 69, Of Estherville
Mrs. Hannah Bergeson, 69, of Estherville died at her home last night after a long illness. Mrs. Bergeson has been confined to her bed since June.

She was born March 5, 1975, at Story City, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Elling Williams. In 1893 she was married to George H. Bergeson at Ellsworth and lived there for seven years. The couple moved to Red River Falls and then to Armstrong where they lived for several years. After that they lived on a farm at Gruver until 1941.

Thirteen children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Bergeson, five of whom, Bert, Theodore, an infant son, Amanda and Laura, preceded Mrs. Bergeson in death. Mr. Bergeson died in 1939.

Survivors are Harvey of Oak Lawn, Ill., Roy of Los Angeles, Calif., Archie of Tigerton, Wis., Lester of Estherville, Mrs. Guy Ramsey and Mrs. Lane Tostenrud of Estherville, Mrs. Thomas McKean of Gruver and Mrs. Luther Ford of Burbank, Calif.

There are also 17 grandchildren, one great granddaughter, two brothers, L.E. Williams of Ellsworth and Will Williams of White Bear Lake, Minn. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, September 18, 1944)
