The death of Miss Amanda Bergeson occurred at her home in Estherville Monday morning at 3 o’clock. She has been a patient suqerer for several months and death came only as a relief to her. Harvey and Bert Bergeson arrived from North Dakota Wednesday morning to be present at the funeral. Mr. and Mrs. Bergeson and family have the sympathy of their many friends in their hour of sorrow. Funeral was held at the home at one o’clock Wednesday. Burial was made in Armstrong. (Vindicator and Republican, Estherville, IA, July 20, 1921)

Amanda Bergeson passed away early Monday morning at the home of her parents on North 6th St. after several months of illness. Funeral will be on Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the Methodist church and burial will be in Armstrong. (Estherville Enterprise, Estherville, IA, July 20, 1921)

Miss Amanda Bergeson Answers Last Summons
Seventeen Year Old Daughter of Mr. and Mrs. G.H. Bergeson Dies Monday Morning
The death of Miss Amanda Bergeson occurred at her home on North Sixth street at three o’clock Monday morning. Miss Bergeson contracted influenza last December and since that time has not been well. For the past ten weeks she had been confined to her bed, and three weeks ago her condition grew more serious until her death. Her prolonged illness developed into tuberculosis, which caused her death. She was a junior in the Estherville high school last year, and was a favorite among her school chums. News of her death came as a shock to her many friends, who will miss her during the coming school year. She is said to have been always active in the doings of her class and always working in the best interest of betterment to the junior grade.

She was born August 17, 1904, in Armstrong, where she lived until the family moved here March 1 of this year. Her parents, Mr. and Mrs. G. H. Bergeson, six brothers and five sisters remain to mourn her departure from this world. The brothers are: Bert and Harvey of Lisbon, N. D., Ray, Archie, Theodore and Lester of Estherville. One other brother died in infancy. The sisters are: Mabel, now Mrs. Ramsey of Gruver; Laura, Mildred, Georgia and Esther of Estherville.

Out of town friends and relatives in attendance at the funeral: Mr. and Mrs. E. Christian of Scranton, Ia., uncle and aunt; Mrs. Sorenson of Rake, a friend, and Mr. S. Sorenson of Rake, also a friend.

Funeral services were from the home at 1:30 today and from the Methodist Episcopal church, with the Rev. J.W. LaGrone officiating. The body was taken to the Armstrong cemetery for burial.

Obituary
Amanda Bergeson was born near Armstrong, Iowa, August 17, 1904 and died at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. George Bergeson on North Sixth street, Estherville July 18, 1921 at the age of sixteen years, 11 months and one day.

Although her home had been on the farm near Armstrong all her life until last March when the family moved to Estherville, she was a Junior in the Estherville high school. Amanda was a beautiful girl and greatly loved by her school mates and many friends. She suffered an attack of influenza last December and although partly recovered from the malady yet she was never well again. In vain she re-entered school and fought bravely for a time but was soon compelled to drop out and was thereafter confined to her home.

Towards the end she failed rapidly and on Monday, July 18th she fell asleep, that eternal sleep from which none ever wake. She leaves to mourn her death her parents and six brothers and five sisters, Bert and Harvey of Lisbon, N.D., Ray, Archie, Theodore and Lester of Estherville, Mrs. Mable Ramsey of Gruver and Laura, Mildred, Georgia and Esther of Estherville. Many other friends and relatives mourn deeply her loss.

Funeral services were held from the Methodist Episcopal church on Wednesday, July 20th, with Rev. J.W. LaGrone, the pastor in charge. The body was taken to Armstrong and laid beside one infant brother who preceded her some years ago. (Vindicator and Republican, Estherville, IA, July 27, 1921)
