Benton Dies at Age 76
Claude Benton, 76, longtime resident of Emmet County, died at 6:25 p.m. yesterday at Holy Family Hospital.

He was born Sept. 28, 1890, in Emmet County where he farmed all his life until he moved to Armstrong in 1950.

In 1922 he was married to Carrie Griese.

Mr. Benton was a member of the World War I Veterans, the American Legion, V.F.W., and Modern Woodman Lodge.

He is survived by his wife; and two daughters, Mrs. Olof (Annabel) McManus of Fonda, and Mrs. Robert (Doris) Simon of Dolliver.

Mr. Benton was preceded in death by his parents and four brothers.

Funeral services will be held Monday at 2 p.m. at the First Methodist Church at Armstrong, Rev. Herman Smith officiating. Burial will be in Armstrong Grove Cemetery.
