GLADYS J. BECKER
MASON CITY - Gladys J. Becker, 92, of Mason City, died Tuesday (May 22, 2001) at the Muse-Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit of North Iowa.
The funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Holy Family Catholic Church, 714 N. Adams Ave., with the Rev. Dennis Cahill officiating. Interment will be at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, at Armstrong Grove Cemetery in Armstrong.
Visitation will be held one hour before the service on Saturday at Hogan Bremer Colonial Chapel, 126 Third St. N.E.
Memorials may be given to the Gladys J. Becker Memorial Fund.
Gladys was born June 13, 1908, in Swea Township, the daughter of Emery and Bertha (Gehrtz) Danielson. Gladys attended the country school.
She married Fred Becker on July 27, 1963, at Holy Family Catholic Church. She moved to Mason City in 1941. Over the years, Gladys cooked at various restaurants in Mason City.
She was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church.
Gladys is survived by three stepdaughters, Barbara, of Chicago, Ill., Marlene Fremin, of Denver, Colo., and Virginia Pedersen and her husband, Severen, of Castle Rock, Colo.; one stepson, Leonard Harms and his wife, Lois, of Forest City; three sisters, Rose Mae Johnson, of Estherville, Vena Cota, of New Brighton, Minn., and Florence Lutz, of Mesa, Ariz.; and many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Gladys was preceded in death by her husband; parents; two sisters, Elsa and Mable; and two brothers, Earl and Albert. (Globe Gazette, Mason City, IA, May 25, 2001)
