Mrs. S.M. Babb Dead
Dolliver Herald: Sunday, March 29th, occurred the death of Mrs. S. M. Babb at her home east of town. Mrs. Babb had been ailing for some time but the disease was not thought to be of a serious nature. It seemed that she had an abcess in her head and it was finally decided that an operation would be necessary, but it seemed that her constitution was not strong enough to withstand the anaesthetic and she passed away while under the influence, and before the operation was performed.

Mrs. Babb was born in Washington county, April 4th, 1858, her maiden name was Ella Rush. She was married to Mr. S.M. Babb in 1875, and in 1901 they moved to Emmet county where they have since made their home. Eight children, four boys and four girls came to bless their home, all are living and grown to manhood and womanhood and most of them are fathers and mothers of families of their own.

Mrs. Babb was a woman who loved her home and seldom left it. She was highly respected by all who knew her and dearly loved by her children. Words or pen cannot speak the sorrow of the loved ones left behind. She was taken from their midst without a moments warning and went to receive her reward in the home across the river.

Funeral services were held at the home Wednesday at 11 a.m., conducted by Rev. B.S. Green of Dolliver after which the remains were taken to Armstrong and laid to rest.

The many friends of the bereaved ones extend their heartfelt sympathy in their hour of deep bereavement. (Vindicator and Republican, Estherville, IA, April 8, 1908)
