Mrs. King Passed Away
Died Suddenly Monday Evening From Heart Attack; Funeral Services Today
While visiting with her neighbor Monday evening Mrs. Richard King passed away suddenly from a heart attack. She was sitting on the davenport at her home on south Tenth street conversing with Mrs. G.D. Ruthberg and had just made a remark about her heart not being in the best condition when she gave a few short gasps and passed away before any assistance could be given her. Mrs. King had been in poor health for the past six years and for three days before her death had been suffering a great deal but she was still able to be up and around. Her death came as a great shock to her many friends and neighbors.

Mrs. King was born in Mercer county, Ill., on June 19, 1867. She was united in marriage with Richard King on April 9, 1902 at Storm Lake. Following their marriage the couple moved to Schaller, Iowa, where they resided until 1913 when they moved to Porter, Minn. In 1926 they came to Estherville where they have since made their home.

When she was a young girl Mrs. King united with the Church of Christ and was a faithful worker in the various branches of the ------- permitted. She was a great reader and conversationalist and enjoyed nothing more than having her friends and neighbors call at her home and spend the afternoon and evenings visiting.

Besides her husband she is survived by one daughter Mrs. Lucille Peterson, one grandson Richard Peterson, and two sisters Mrs. Rebecca Hyzer of Storm Lake and Mrs. Agnes Stone of Britt.

Funeral services were held this (Thursday) afternoon at 1:30 pm. at the King home and at 2:00 at the Church of Christ with the Rev. Fred Sawyer officiating. Burial was in the Eastside cemetery. (Vindicator and Republican, Estherville, IA, February 20, 1941)
