Richard [Thomas Richard] King Dies at Home of Daughter
Richard King, Estherville resident for 28 years, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Lucille Peterson, at 7:50 a.m. today. Ill with Parkinson’s disease for the past 45 years, Mr. King died at the age of 75. He had been bedfast much of the time in the past year.Born Dec. 9, 1878, in Schaller, he joined the Christian church there at the age of 14. He married Addie May McLaughlin on April 9, 1902, in Storm Lake. In 1913, the couple moved to Minnesota to farm and in 1926 they moved to Estherville where they made their home with their adopted daughter, Mrs. Peterson.
Mrs. King preceded her husband in death about 13 years ago.
Surviving are his daughter, Mrs. Peterson; a grandson, Richard Peterson and three great grandchildren. Also preceding him in death are his parents, Charles and Mary King and two sisters.
Funeral services tentatively have been set for 2 p.m. Monday at the Christian church, the Rev. Clyde Leeds officiating. Burial will be in Eastside cemetery. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, January 22, 1954)

Funeral services for Richard King, who died here yesterday morning, will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at the Christian church, the Rev. Clyde C. Leeds officiating. Mr. King’s body will lie in state from 10 a.m. Monday until time of services when the casket will be closed and will not be re-opened. The family has requested that a memorial fund be established.
