Mrs. Lyle Askeland of Armstrong Dies
Mrs. Lyle Askeland, 47, of Armstrong, died 4 p.m. yesterday in Holy Family hospital of complications following an operation for removal of a tumor. She had been suffering from the condition for quite some time.

Mrs. Askeland was born Jan. 20, 1902, on a farm north of Armstrong and received her education in the Armstrong public schools. She and Mr. Askeland were married about 29 years ago, and the couple engaged in farming at the present Askeland farm three miles north of Armstrong.

The deceased was a member of the Lutheran church, was active in church work and in Farm Bureau work.

Survivors include two children at home, Merlin, 15, and Marlene, 11, her husband and her mother, Mrs. Mary Opsal.

Services will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Armstrong Lutheran church with the Rev. M.C. Molstre officiating. Burial will be at Armstrong Grove cemetery. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, October 10, 1949)
