Lyle Askeland
Dubuque – Lyle Askeland, formerly of Armstrong, died Tuesday, Oct. 21, 1986 at Luther Manor in Dubuque.Funeral services were Friday, Oct. 24 at the Nazareth Lutheran Church in Armstrong Cemetery.
He was born at Badger, Iowa, farmed in the Armstrong area most of his life and was a partner in the International Harvester business in Armstrong. He was a member of the American Legion and a World War I veteran.
He is survived by a son, Lyle, Sanborn; a daughter, Marlene (Mrs. Gerald) Gunderson, Dubuque; adopted daughters, Mary (Mrs. Ernest) Paulson, Armstrong, Elizabeth (Mrs. Earl) Von Bank, Austin, Minn.; 16 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded by his wife Mable [Mable Opsal] in 1949. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, October 27, 1986)
