Armstrong – Services for Ione M. [Marie] Ahart, 91, of Armstrong and formerly of Ames will be held today Monday, November 14 at 10 a.m. at the Henry-Olson-Fuhrman Funeral Chapel in Armstrong with Pastor Paul Rothfusz officiating. Interment will be at Armstrong Grove Cemetery. She died November 10 at Valley Vue Care Center in Armstrong.

Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. at Henry-Olson-Fuhrman Funeral Home in Armstrong.

She was born May 18, 1903 in Seneca, the daughter of Edward and Mary (Jenson) Helgason. She attended school in Armstrong and graduated from Armstrong High School in 1922. She then attended Iowa State Teachers College in Cedar Falls. She taught school in Dunlap at Dunlap High School for five years and then taught at Fort Dodge High School for 15 years.

She married Theodore Ahart on December 28, 1945 in Ames. Following their marriage the couple lived in Ames. She moved to Armstrong in March of 1994, where she was a resident at Valley Vue Care Center.

Survivors include a step-son John of Cedar Rapids; a step-daughter Mrs. Lien (Mary Ann) Valley of St. Cloud, Minn.; 14 step-grandchildren and several step-great-grandchildren; two sisters Mrs. Marietta (Polly) Diekman of Armstrong and Mrs. Virgil (Viola) Blomster of Fairmont, Minn.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband in 1976, two brothers and one step-son. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, November 14, 1994)
