Estherville – Services for Mrs. Andros O. (Sylvia M.) Hanson, 90, will be held Friday at 2 p.m. in the Estherville Lutheran Church with Pastor Kermit Rye officiating. Interment will be in Palestine Lutheran Cemetery, rural Dolliver. She died Tuesday, Nov. 24, 1987 at the Good Samaritan Center.Friends may call at the Henry-Olson-Fuhrman Funeral Home in Estherville from 5-9 p.m. Thursday and 8:30-10 a.m. Friday at Good Samaritan Center Chapel from 10:15 – 11:15 a.m. Friday, also after noon on Friday at the church.
She was born March 26, 1897 at Dolliver, the daughter of Nels and Anna (Carlson) Heggen. She attended rural Emmet County Schools. On Dec. 13, 1916 she was united in marriage with Andros Hanson at Dolliver. She lived most of her life in Emmet County. The couple retired from farming in the Dolliver area in 1959 and moved into Estherville. She has lived at the Good Samaritan Center since 1978. She was a member of Estherville Lutheran Church and E.C.L.W.
Survivors include seven sons: Marvin, Oklahoma City, Okla.; Rev. Norris, Mason City, Arden and Romain, Estherville; Phillip, Fairmont, Minn.; David, Wausau, Wis. and Joseph, Emmetsburg; two daughters: Mrs. Paul (Marilyn) Hagen, Cooperstown, N.D. and Mrs. Ronald (Phyllis) Book, Sandpoint, Ida.; 29 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband who died Sept. 13, 1980; one grandson, one great-grandson, two brothers and three sisters. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, November 25, 1987)
