Portland, Ore. – Services for Hazel Irene Sunde, 76, formerly of Estherville, were held Nov.21 at First Presbyterian Church in Portland with interment to be in the family plot in Palestine Lutheran Cemetery, rural Dolliver.

She was born April 15, 1911 at Estherville, the daughter of Thomas and Gertrude (Mathisen) Sunde. She was baptized and confirmed in the Palestine Lutheran Church and was a 1927 graduate of Estherville High School. She attended Waldorf College, Forest City; and had been employed as a secretary at Albert Lea, Minn., Baraboo, Wis., Jefferson, as well as in Portland until her retirement.

Survivors include her brother Elvin and wife Sylvia, rural Estherville; nieces and nephews. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, November 28, 1987)
