Mable Emma Franck, 87, of Estherville, died Thursday, Sept. 24, at Holy Family Hospital in Estherville. Services are scheduled for 10 a.m. on Saturday, at Estherville Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Kermit Kye officiating.Interment will be at Palestine Lutheran Cemetery in Dolliver.
Mrs. Franck was born June 7, 1900, in Martin County, Minn., to Herman Schley and Carolyn (Fink) Schley.
She attended country schools in Martin County, Minn. On June 15, 1922, she married Fred Simon in Ceylon, Minn. They moved to the Dolliver area where they farmed for many years. Mr. Simon died Nov. 13, 1966.
She married Herman Franck on Sept. 2, 1969, and they made their home in Ceylon, Minn. until Mrs. Franck moved to Estherville in 1979, where she had been living. Mr. Franck died July 3, 1979.
She was a member of Estherville Lutheran Church, Church Circle and the American Legion Auxiliary.
She is survived by three son: Robert Simon of Dolliver, John Simon of Sacramento, Calif., and Fred Simon of Delphi, Ind.; one daughter, Mrs. Paul (Alice) Neppel of Spirit Lake; a daughter-in-law, Mrs. Evelyn Simon of Estherville, one brother, Walter Schley of McGregor, Minn., two sisters, Mrs. Ed (Alma) Schmidt of Ceylon, Minn., and Mrs. Verna Engstrom of Sherburn, Minn.; and 13 grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by both husbands; one son, James Simon; one granddaughter, Peggy Neppel; and her parents. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, September 26, 1987)
