Thomas E. Stanerson Dies at 80
Thomas Edward Stanerson, 80, lifetime resident of rural Estherville, died today at 12:25 a.m. at Holy Family Hospital. Death was attributed to a coronary insufficiency. He had been in failing health for 10 months.He was born July 26, 1885, on a farm close to Estherville, the son of Frank and Julia Stanerson and was baptized in Emmet County courthouse in the absence of a Lutheran church.
Mr. Stanerson received his education in Emmet county rural schools. He was married to Bertha Lilland on June 30, 1915, in Des Moines.
He farmed in Emmet County all his life.
Mr. Stanerson was active in church work and served as deacon and trustee of the Palestine Lutheran Church.
He is survived by his wife, Bertha; one daughter, Mrs. Robert (Lavon) Anders of Des Moines; one granddaughter, Rebecca Sue Anders; three sisters, Mrs. Josie Hillestad, Mrs. Grace Hanson and Mrs. Olive Twedt, all of Estherville; and one brother, John Stanerson of Estherville.
Mr. Stanerson was preceded in death by his parents; an infant son and daughter; and four sisters, Mrs. Martha Christensen, Mrs. Gertrud Laffey, Mrs. Sadie Thompson and Mrs. Nellie Keefe.
Family services will be Thursday at 10:45 a.m. at the Reese Funeral Home.
Public services will be at 2 p.m. at the Estherville Lutheran Church, Rev. Roy Hendrickson and Rev. Christian Notsund officiating.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 9 a.m. Wednesday until noon Thursday, when the body will be taken to the church to lie in state until time of services.
Pallbearers will be Colman Karsven, Fred Knutson, Carl Shaw, Nyles Heggen, Lewis Valen and R.S. Knutson. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, November 16, 1965)
