Fred Simon Dies at 72
Fred Simon, 72, longtime resident of Emmet County, died at 3:45 a.m. yesterday at Holy Family Hospital.Fred H. Simon was born Sept. 15, 1894, in Milwaukee, Wis. He began farming in Emmet County in 1905 and in 1922 was married to Mabel Schley of Dunnell, Minn.
He was active in the St. Peter Lutheran Church in Ceylon, and held various church offices. He was also associated with several community jobs, school offices and township offices.
He is survived by his wife, Mabel; four sons, Robert, James, John and Fred Jr.; one daughter, Mrs. Paul (Alice) Neppel; and four sisters.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and three sisters.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the St. Peter Lutheran Church at Ceylon, Minn., Rev. W. Storm officiating.
Friends may call at the Goodell Funeral Home in Ceylon from Tuesday until noon Wednesday.
