Estherville – Services for Mrs. Oswald (Hulda) Lilland, 79, will be held Sunday at 3 p.m. at the Palestine Lutheran Church, rural Dolliver with Pastor Phillip Olson officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery. She died Thursday, January 9, 1986 at the Good Samaritan Center, Estherville

Friends may call at the Henry-Olson-Fuhrman Funeral Home, 103 North Ninth Street, in Estherville from 3-8 p.m. Saturday.

Hulda T. Rood was born May 12, 1906 at Dolliver, the daughter of Henry and Matilda (Jones) Rood. Her parents died when she was four years old and the Rood children moved to Argile, Wis. to live with Aunt and Uncle Anton and Dorthea Nybroten. She received her education at Argyle, Wis., Oak Grove High School, Fargo, N.D. and received her R.N. degree from Deaconess School of Nursing at Minneapolis, Minn. After getting her education she returned to Wisconsin to practice nursing. Later she moved back to the Dolliver area and continued nursing in the Fairmont, Minn. hospital. On April 10, 1937 she married Oswald Lilland at Wallingford. The couple farmed in the Dolliver area until his death in 1978. Since 1980 she has been a resident of the Good Samaritan Center. She was a member of Palestine Lutheran Church.

Survivors include two sons: Robert Lilland, Estherville and Richard Lilland, Lakewood, Colo.; two daughters: Mrs. Joe (Sharon) Walker, Centerville and Mrs. Gene (Janet) Williams, Longmont, Colo.; eight grandchildren; two brothers: Bennie Rood, Warren, Minn. and Louis Rood, Estherville.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one brother and one sister. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, January 11, 1986)
