Death Take Mrs. Simon Lilland On Monday
After a lingering illness Mrs. Simon Lilland, a resident of this county for over fifty-two years, passed away at Holy Family hospital last Monday at 12:30 a.m.She has been afflicted with asthma and complications for a long duration and has been bedfast since January.
Mrs. Lilland was Magdalene Worra before her marriage on June 5, 1895 on the homestead farm near Dolliver. She was born in Norway November 16, 1869. Mr. and Mrs. Lilland celebrated their golden wedding on the farm where they were married. They resided there until 1943 when they moved to this city to make their home.
The Lilland family have been a highly respected family in the community they reside in for fifty years. They have reared a fine family, a credit to the community.
Mrs. Lilland is survived by her husband, five daughters and two sons: Mabel and Elma at home, Mrs. Gust Valen of Estherville, Mrs. H.R. Lexvold of Lake Wilson, Minn., and Mrs. A.C. Ludring of Pasadena; Oswald Lilland of Dolliver and August Lilland of Orange, Calif., and 15 grandchildren.
Funeral services were held this afternoon at 1:30 at the Lilland home and 2:30 in the Palestine Lutheran Church west of Dolliver. Rev. C.M. Hanson officiated. Burial was made in the Palestine cemetery. (Estherville Enterprise, Estherville, IA, August 7, 1947)

Mrs. Martha Magdalena Lilland was born Nov. 16, 1869, to Mr. and Mrs. Mathias Worra, Kaiejpervik, Norway. She received her early training under the influence of the church and at the age of 16 she came to America, making her home first in Kansas City, Kans.On June 5, 1895, she was united in marriage to Mr. Simon Lilland. They had seven children, Mabel Lilland, Mrs. Gust Valen (Jennie), Oswald Lilland, Elma Lilland, all of the Estherville community, and Mrs. H.R. Lexvod (Marion) of Lake Wilson, Minn., Mrs. A.C. Lundring (Hazel) of Pasadena, Calif., and August Lilland of Orange, Calif.
She is survived by the children, her husband, 16 grandchildren, a brother, Eli Worra of Annandale, Minn., and a sister, Bertha Worra, of Los Angeles, Calif. One brother preceded her in death in Norway.
Mr. and Mrs. Lilland have been active members of the Palestine Lutheran church near Dolliver for many years and kept their membership here though much of their church activity has been experienced in the fellowship of the Estherville Lutheran Church.
Mrs. Lilland had been ill for many years, and had spent the last 10 weeks of her life in Holy family hospital. She died Monday morning, Aug. 4. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, August 12, 1947)
