Set Knutson Services in Dolliver
Estherville – Funeral arrangements are made for Mrs. Silas (Amanda [Bertina]) Knutson, 76, Dolliver, who died at 2:45 a.m. June 12, in Palo Alto County Hospital, Emmetsburg.

Services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday in Palestine Lutheran Church, rural Dolliver, with the Rev. Norton McCaughan officiating. Burial will be made in Palestine Lutheran Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Fred Butterfield, Henry Sunde, A.J. Birkland, Roger Knutson, Elvin Sunde and Laverne Valen. Friends may call at Reese-Henry Funeral Home, Estherville, after 9 a.m. Friday.

She was born Nov. 10, 1897 on a farm in Emmet County to Lars and Hattie Herem and educated in rural Emmet County schools. On Sept. 12, 1924, she was married to Silas Knutson at her parent’s farm home in Emmet County. The couple farmed near Dolliver ever since their marriage. Mrs. Knutson was a member of the Palestine Lutheran Church.

Surviving are her husband, Silas, of rural Dolliver; one son, Gaylord, and daughter-in-law, Virginia, and two grandchildren, Connie and Kaylene of rural Dolliver; two brothers, Thomas Herem of Ogden, Utah, and Leroy Herem of Garden Grove, Calif.; and three sisters, Mrs. Betty Jorgenson, Miss Josie Herem, both of Garden Grove, and Mrs. Alma Christian of Mason City.

Preceding her in death were her parents and two brothers. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, June 13, 1974)
