Rites To Be Thursday for Mrs. Evans
Mrs. Emma Julia Evans, 87, died of a lingering illness yesterday at 7:30 a.m. at Holy Family Hospital.

Mrs. Evans was born Oct. 27, 1871, at Dows in Franklin County, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Erickson. She received her education in the Franklin County schools. She was married to Elman M. Evans April 2, 1892, at Dows. They lived at Dows for a year and came to Emmet County in the spring of 1893. They farmed in this vicinity from that time. Mrs. Evans was a member of the Palestine Lutheran Church.

She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Lee Miller of Dolliver and Mrs. Bessie Miller of Ringsted, and two sons, Edward of Armstrong and Raymond of Estherville. Also surviving are 17 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren. Mrs. Evans was preceded in death by her husband who died in 1918, and one son, Floyd J. who died in July 1856, and two sisters.

Funeral services will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at the Dolliver Methodist Church. Officiating will be the Rev. Cloyd Bishop of Dolliver and the Rev. Harold Sutter of Petersburg. A family service will be held at the church at 11:15 Thursday morning. Friends may call at the Sandin-Fuhrman Funeral Home from this evening until Thursday morning when the body will be taken to the church to lie in state from 11 o’clock until time of services. Burial will be in the Palestine Lutheran Cemetery near Dolliver. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, March 3, 1959)
