On Tuesday, May 7th, Mr. E.M. [Elman Merial] Evans, a highly respected and old resident of this place, died at his home northwest of town. Mr. Evans had been in poor health for some time and his death was looked for. Funeral was held from the home on Thursday. There was a large attendance at the funeral. The bereaved family have the sympathy of the entire community. (Estherville Enterprise, Estherville, IA, May 15, 1918)
