Estherville – Services for Mrs. Leona Swiefel, 75, will be held Friday, 1:30 p.m. in the United Methodist Church in Dolliver with Dr. Merrill Summerbell officiating. Interment will be in the Lincoln Township Cemetery, rural Dolliver. She died Tuesday, Jan. 10, 1984 at the Dickinson County Memorial Hospital in Spirit Lake.Friends may call at the Henry and Olson Funeral Home in Estherville after 2 p.m. Thursday.
Leona Louise Schmidt was born April 3, 1908 at Fenton, the daughter of William and Lena (Lieb) Schmidt. She attended Fenton area schools. On Feb. 26, 1930 she was united in marriage with Virgil Zwiefel at Lotts Creek. They farmed in the Fenton area until 1940 when they moved to a farm near Dolliver. She moved into Estherville in 1974. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Dolliver.
Survivors include two daughters: Mrs. Clair (Marcella) Moore and Mrs. Gene (Lois) Yackle, both rural Dolliver; two sons: Wendell Zwiefel, Truman, Minn. and Calvin Zwiefel, Valleye Park, Minn.; 16 grandchildren and eight grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters; one brother and one grandson. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, January 11, 1984)
