Mrs. Merton Worster of Dolliver Dies
Mrs. Merton Worster, 77, a resident of rural Dolliver since 1941, died at Holy Family Hospital at 9:15 a.m. yesterday. Death was attributed to complications of old age. She had been in failing health for the past nine years.Mrs. Worster [Mabel Milvora Broadwell] was born Dec. 25, 1883 near Rolfe, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Edward [Edwin] Broadwell. She received her education in Rolfe schools.
On March 31, 1909 she was married to Merton Worster at Emmetsburg and the couple farmed in that area, moving to a farm near Dolliver in 1941.
Survivors include her husband, two daughters, Mrs. C.R. Teeter, Algona; and Mrs. Donald Hughes, Cedar Falls; and three sons, Dr. M.C. Worster, Pontiac, Mich.; Dr. C.E. Worster, Des Moines; and Gordon Worster, Park Rapids, Minn.
Also surviving are two sisters, Clara Quigley, North Dakota; Loma McCloud, Burbank, Calif.; five brothers, Frank Broadwell, Ruthven; Joe and Burt of North Dakota, and Earl of Edmond, Wash. A grandson, James B. Worster of Armstrong, also survives.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the Dolliver Methodist Church, the Rev. Jackson Stutler and the Rev. Roger Tappmeyer officiating. Burial will be in Dolliver Cemetery.
Friends may call at the Slaba Funeral Home from noon Thursday until time of services. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, December 13, 1961)
