Final Rites on Saturday
Funeral services for Mrs. Lyle Wicks, 67, of Dolliver will be Saturday at 2 p.m. in the Dolliver Methodist Church. 1:30 p.m. family service will be in the church basement, Rev. Herman U. Smith officiating. Burial will be in the Dolliver Cemetery.

Mrs. Wicks died yesterday at 8:10 a.m. of cancer in St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester, Minn. She was taken there by ambulance Saturday after having been ill since May 23.

The former Laura Blanche Wicks was born May 16, 1899 at Adel, the daughter of Andrew and Ida Wicks. She received her education in the Lakefield, Minn. schools and graduated from the Mankato Teacher’s College at Mankato, Minn.

She taught school in Minnesota and South Dakota until she was married Aug. 20, 1921, to Lyle Wicks at Dell Rapids, S.D.

Since their marriage, Mr. and Mrs. Wicks had farmed in Emmet County.

She was a member of the Methodist Church in Dolliver.

Survivors include her husband; one daughter, Mrs. Lawrence (Alice) Marquardt of Gaza; one son, Wayne of Dolliver; five grandchildren, Kent and Gale Marquardt and Paul, Keith and Diane Wicks; and sister, Mrs. Donald (Rachel) Malmgren of Spirit Lake.

Friends may call at the Fuhrman Funeral Home until 10 a.m. Saturday when the body will be taken to the church in Dolliver to lie in state until time of services.

Pallbearers will be Clare Moore, Joe Sampson, Harold Laffey, Leonard Ferguson, Robert Griffith and Milburn Swanson. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, July 8, 1966)
