Dolliver – Services for Mrs. Ethel Whalen, 85, will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. in the United Methodist Church, Dolliver with the Rev. David Wagner officiating. Interment will be in Lincoln Township Cemetery, rural Dolliver. She died Sunday, Sept. 7, 1986.

Henry-Olson-Fuhrman Funeral Home, Estherville, is in charge of arrangements.

Ethel Wilma Cameron was born March 11, 1901 in Kossuth County, Iowa, and was the daughter of William and Jeannie Cameron. She attended Algona High School. She was married to Ralph Benjamin at Algona. They moved to Portland, Ore. where she lived until his death in 1931. She moved back to Lone Rock and made that her home until her marriage to Victor Whalen May 19, 1935 at Algona. Following their marriage she moved to Dolliver where she has continued to live. Victor Whalen died Jan. 11, 1975. She was a member of the United Methodist Church; UMW and American Legion Auxiliary.

Survivors include one son Jack Benjamin and his wife Alma, Estherville; three grandchildren; Mrs. John (Karen) Egel, Olathe, Kans., Scott Benjamin, Estherville and Keith Benjamin, Cedar Falls; two great-grandchildren; two sisters: Mrs. Edna Stow, Estherville and Mrs. Una LaBar, Austin, Minn.

She was preceded in death by both husbands; one brother and two sisters. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, September 9, 1986)
