Dolliver – Services for Lyle Wicks [Elza Lyle Wicks], 78, Dolliver, will be held Saturday at 10:30 a.m. in the United Methodist Church, Dolliver with Dr. Merrill Summerbell officiating. Interment will be in Lincoln Township Cemetery. He died Wednesday, August 10, 1983 at his home.

Friends may call at the Henry and Olson Funeral Home in Estherville after 2 p.m. today (Friday).

Wicks was born April 20, 1905 at Jackson County, Minn., the son of Albert and Edith (Peterson) Wicks. He attended the Heron Lake, Minn. school until he was 10 years old and his mother died, at which time he moved to Dolliver and lived with Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Peterson and Arnie Peterson. He was a graduate of Dolliver High School. After graduation he farmed in the Dolliver area until retirement. On August 20, 1931 he married Laura Wicks at Dell Rapids, S.D., she died in July, 1966; on Sept. 13, 1969 he married Ada Wicks at Rapids City, S.D., she died in May, 1976. ON April 10, 1977 he was united in marriage with Emma Richards at Eagle Grove.

Wicks was a member of the United Methodist Church, School Board, Township Trustee, Dolliver Town Council, Board of Review and Church Board.

He is survived by his wife, Emma; one daughter, Mrs. Lawrence (Alice) Marquardt, Primghar, and one son Wayne Wicks, Dolliver; two step-daughters: Mrs. Don (Linda) Glazier and Mrs. Jim (Lou Ann) Wells both of Cedar Rapids; six grandchildren, Kent Marquardt, Primghar, Paul, Keith, Diane and Kay Wicks, Dolliver; eight stepgrandchildren; four stepgreat-[grandchildren].

He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, August 12, 1983)
