Dolliver – Services for Emma Wicks, 75, who died Monday [July 18, 1988] at her daughter’s home in Cedar Rapids, will be held Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in Dolliver with the Rev. Marshall Monthei officiating. Burial will follow in the Lincoln Township Cemetery in Dolliver. Family and friends may call after 3:00 p.m. Wednesday at the Henry-Olson-Fuhrman Funeral Home in Estherville.

Emma Richards Wicks was born on January 19, 1913 in Dolliver to Niels and Ellen Jesperson [Jespersen]. She graduated from Maple Hill High school. On January 19, 1938 she married Gerald Richards in Waukee. Mrs. Wicks has spent the majority of her life in the Dolliver area, farming with her husband Gerald near Dolliver. Mr. Richards later managed the ASCS office in Estherville for 21 years. She continued to make Dolliver her home following her marriage to Mr. Wicks in 1977. He passed away in 1983.

Mrs. Wicks was a member of the United Methodist Church, UMW, Farm Bureau Women, was very active leading 4H clubs, along with other club involvement.

She is survived by two daughters: Mrs. Donald (Linda) Glazier and Mrs. Jim (Lou Ann) Wells, both of Cedar Rapids; two step-children; Alice Marquardt of Primghar and Wayne Wicks of Dolliver; three brothers: Harry Jesperson of Hartley, Chris Jesperson of Estherville and Holger Jesperson of Pasadena, Calif.; eight grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and six step-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother and both husbands. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, July 20, 1988)
