Richards Services Wednesday
Estherville – Gerald Wayne Richards, 62, Estherville, died from cancer at 2:15 p.m. Sunday [May 5, 1974] in his home.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in the United Methodist Church of Estherville. Officiating ministers will be the Rev. Max Goldman, the Rev. Donald Glazier and the Rev. Travis Cannaday. Interment will be in Dolliver Cemtery.

Mr. Richards was born Aug. 15, 1911, at Montgomery to Mr. and Mrs. Roy W. Richards. He attended and was graduated from Dolliver schools. On Jan. 19, 1938, he was married to Emma Florence Jespersen at Waukee.

He farmed near Dolliver until 1948 when he was afflicted by polio. For the past 21 years, he was office manager for the ASCS, Estherville. He moved to Estherville and had lived here the last few years.

Mr. Richards was a member of United Methodist Church, Estherville, also of the Noon Kiwanis Club, the Safety Board of ASCS, and of Emmet County Employees Credit Union. He is a former member of the Soil Conservation Commission Committee for Emmet County.

Surviving are his wife, Emma, Estherville; two daughters, Linda (Mrs. Donald Glazier) of Renwick and Lou Ann (Mrs. David Adams,) Estherville; eight grandchildren, John, Jerry, Marilyn, Marcia, Christie and Mark Glazier of Renwick, and Christopher and Kirsten Adams of Estherville; also Alvie Wicks of Estherville with whom he was reared. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Friends may call at Reese-Henry Funeral Home, Estherville, after 10 a.m. Tuesday and until 9 a.m. Wednesday.
