After a long and lingering illness Mrs. C. Poffenberger passed away at her home in Dolliver at the age of 54 years at 11:30 a.m. November 28, 1929. Anna Dora Johanson was born at Laboe, Holstein, Germany, on April 30, 1875. At the age of ten years, she came with her parents to America and lived on a farm near Lincoln, Iowa. She was confirmed in the German Lutheran church of Gladbrook, Iowa, on April 30, 1885. On February 7, 1900, she was married to Coyle Poffenenberger at Morrison. To this union were born two children, Hattie and Harry, who with their father are left to mourn her loss. Besides the immediate family she is survived by two brothers, J.P. Koberg of Lincoln and William Kogerg of Goodthunder, Minn., and other relatives and friends. Her sister, Louisa Witt, passed away ten years ago.

Funeral services were held at the M.E. church of Dolliver at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, November 30. Interment was made in the Dolliver cemetery. (Estherville Enterprise, Estherville, IA, December 4, 1929)

Dolliver Woman is Called to Final Reward
Mrs. Coyle Poffenberger of Dolliver, passed away at her home there, Thursday morning, November 8, after a lingering illness of cancer. She was but 54 years of age. Mrs. Poffenberger whose maiden name was Anna Dora Johanson [per marriage record, Johnson], was born at Loboe, Holstein, Germany, on April 30, 1875. On February 7, 1900, she was married to Coyle Poffenberger at Morison. Two children Hattie and Harry were born to this union who with their father are left to mourn her passing. Two brothers J.P. Koberg of Lincoln, Iowa, and William Koberg of Good Thunder, Minn., also survive.

Funeral services were held at two o’clock Saturday afternoon, at the Dolliver M.E. church and interment made in the Dolliver cemetery.

Those from out of town who attended the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. J.P. Koberg and son of Lincoln, Iowa, Mr. and Mrs. William Koberg of Good Thunder, Minn., Mrs. L.B. Hulsebus of Merservey, Iowa, and Mrs. William Munroe of Chicago. (Vindicator and Republican, Estherville, IA, December 4, 1929)

Mrs. Anna Poffenberger, wife of our local blacksmith, passed away at her home Thanksgiving morning, at the age of 54. Mrs. Poffenberger had been ill for several months and death finally relieved her suffering. Her husband and two children, Hattie and Harry, survive. Miss Hattie is a teacher in the Estherville schools and Harry is superintendent of schools at Manly. We extend sympathy to the family. Those from away attending the funeral: two brothers and their families, Mr. and Mrs. J.P. Koberg and son, Lincoln and Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Koberg and son, Goodthunder, Minn.; a niece, Mrs. L.B. Hulsebus, Meservey; a cousin, Mrs. Wm. Monroe, Chicago; two friends, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Sievet, Charter Oak. (Estherville Enterprise, Estherville, IA, December 4, 1929)
