Mrs. M.C. Peterson Dies at Dolliver
Mrs. M.C. (Sarah) Peterson, 82, longtime resident of Emmet County, died at 11 o’clock last night at her home in Dolliver after an extended illness. She had been bedfast since Nov. 13, 1956 when she suffered a stroke.Born Jan. 14, 1876 in Illinois, she was the daughter of Samuel and Mary Mills. When a small girl, her family moved near Williams, where she received her education.
She was united in marriage Dec. 27, 1892 in Estherville to M.C. Peterson. The couple lived in the Williams area until 1910 when they moved to a farm located near Dolliver, where they resided until retirement in 1937, at which time they moved into the town of Dolliver. The couple celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary last month.
Mrs. Peterson was a member of the Methodist church.
Survivors are her husband; two daughters, Mrs. Ole (Grace) Knutson, Dolliver, and Mrs. Emmet (Mary) Trees, Armstrong; one son, Ken, Minneapolis; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; one brother, W.F. Mills of Rockford, Ill.; two sisters, Mrs. Lucy Vaughn, also of Rockford, and Mrs. Emma Ross of Williams, and numerous nieces and nephews. One daughter, Mrs. Harry (Rachel) Griffith, preceded her in death.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Dolliver Methodist church, the Rev. Clyde Bishop and the Rev. C.K. Hudson of Arnolds Park officiating. Burial will be in the Dolliver cemetery.
