Funeral services for Chris Nissen, 61, of Dolliver were held Dec. 9 at Dolliver with the Rev. C.L. Day officiating. Burial was made in the Dolliver cemetery.Chris Ernest Nissen was born Oct. 30, 1883, at Clinton and was the son of Sophie and Henry Nissen. Most of his life he had lived in Iowa as a farmer with the exception of five years, 1905-1910, when he lived in Illinois. He was married Dec. 29, 1909, to Augusta Schuidder in Peru, Ill. Mr. Nissen died Dec. 6 at 10 p.m. in the Fairmont hospital where he had been ill for two weeks from appendicitis.
He is survived by his widow, his son, Lester, at home and Leslie of the armed services now stationed overseas and by two daughters, Mrs. Lester Anderson of Ceylon, Minn., and Mrs. Henry Hovig of Ringsted. There are also three grandchildren surviving and three brothers, John and Herman, both of Terril and William of Ixonia, Wis. (Vindicator and Republican, Estherville, IA, December 21, 1944)
