Former Resident Buried in Dolliver
Funeral services for Irwin G. [George] Newland, 74, Fairmont, Minn., were held there Feb. 26, with burial in Dolliver, Iowa. Newland, a former Emmetsburg resident and businessman, died Feb. 22 at the Veterans Hospital in Minneapolis, following a long illness.

Newland was manager of the Royal Lumber Company here and in other Iowa towns for many years. He and Mrs. Newland moved to Fairmont, Sept. 1, 1970, after spending several winters in Florida, Texas and California.

Survivors include his wife, Ira [Ira Charlotte Sanden], and three sons: Alton, Wichita, Kans.; William, Minneapolis and George, Costa Mesa, Calif.; two brothers, three sisters and eight grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter, who died in infancy. (Emmetsburg Reporter, Emmetsburg, IA, March 30, 1971)
