Marvin L. Hunt was born on Monday; February 22, 1943 at the family's home in Dolliver; Emmet County, Iowa. He was the son of: Melvin and Clara (Schwietert) Hunt. Marv was a resident of the Dolliver area his entire life and was in the first graduating class of Lincoln Central in May 1961. Marv served his country in Vietnam from 1965-1967 as a member of the United States Army. He was united in marriage to Margaret Schacherer at St. Patrick's in Estherville on April 22, 1967. Following graduation, Marv drove truck from 1961-1975. He and Margaret owned and operated the M & M Farm Store in Dolliver from 1975-1999. He again operated his trucking business from 1999 to current. In addition, Marv farmed for many years. Marv was a member of the Dolliver United Methodist Church. He was on the Dolliver city council for many years as well as the Dolliver Fire Department. He was a member of the Armstrong VFW and the American Legion. Marv will long be remembered by his many friends and family for his quick wit and sense of humor. Always ready for a party, Marv loved to sing at any gathering that involved karaoke. Marv loved farming, fishing and gardening. He was very proud of his children and grandchildren and enjoyed spending time with them. Marvin L. Hunt, age: 70, passed away on Friday; March 22, 2013 at his home in Dolliver, Iowa. Those left to mourn his passing are: His wife: Margaret. His three daughters: Diane (Todd) Casperson of Beresford; Lincoln and Union counties, South Dakota, Sara Hunt of Waukee; Dallas County, Iowa and Jenny (Aaron) Blankenship of Clive; Polk County, Iowa. His daughter-in-law: Tammy (Travis) Grange and grandchildren: Aaron and Jeremy Hunt, Josh, Emilee and Nick Casperson, Gabe Blankenship, Carly and Carson Grange. Also his sister: Helen Mosloski; his brother: William (Ruth Ann) Hunt; his brother and sisters-in-law: Mary Herum of Estherville; Emmet County, Iowa, Lucille (Lloyd) McCombs of Ruthven; Palo Alto County, Iowa, Louis (Shirley) Schacherer of Estherville, Iowa, Lorraine (David) Origer of Graettinger; Palo Alto County, Iowa and Carmen Schacherer. Marvin was preceded in death by his parents; mother and father-in-law: LeRoy and Elizabeth Schacherer; his son: Matthew; his sister: Sarah (Leon) Meyer and brothers-in-law: Marlin Mosloski, Eugene Schacherer and Leon Meyer; sister-in-law, Dolores Umscheid. May they rest in peace. May God bless his memory and give strength to those that mourn. Visitation will be from: 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday; March 26, 2013 at the Henry~Olson Funeral Home. Funeral services will begin at: 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday; March 27, 2013 at the Saint Patrick's Catholic Church in Estherville, Iowa. Interment with full military honors will be at the Lincoln Township Cemetery in Dolliver, Iowa. (MC)
