Spirit Lake – Services for Richard Herman Holl, 69, formerly of Dolliver and Estherville area, will be held Monday at 1:30 p.m. in the Immanuel Lutheran Church, Spirit Lake, with the Rev. H. Allan Krueger officiating. Interment will be in Lincoln Township Cemetery, rural Dolliver with full military rites by the Estherville VFW and American Legion Posts. He died Thursday, March 22, 1990 at his home in Spirit Lake.

Friends may call at Henry-Olson-Fuhrman Funeral Home in Estherville from 4-9 p.m. Sunday.

He was born Feb. 22, 1921 near Estherville, the son of Henry and Agnes (Isder) Holl and was a graduate of Maple Hill High School. On February 12, 1942 he was married to Catherine Sorum at Wallingford; she died July 2, 1970. He served in the United States Army Air Corps at China, Burma and India during World War II. On April 3, 1971 he was united in marriage with Betty Frerichs at Dolliver. He lived on the family farm in Swan Lake Township and continued to farm until moving to Spirit Lake in 1980, where they were living at the time of his death.

He was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church; Veterans of Foreign Wars; American Legion; Farm Bureau and Pork Producers Association.

Survivors include four daughters: Mrs. Richard (Juanita) Mitchell and Mrs. Roger (Linda) Ham, both of Fremont, Calif.; Mrs. Ken (Janice) McCauley and Mrs. Larry (Susan) Loeschen both of New Brighton, Minn.; four step-sons: David Frerichs, Ceylon, Minn.; Dann Frerichs, Orlando, Fla.; Daryll and Dale Frerichs both of Estherville; 18 grandchildren and one brother, Wayne Holl, Hoffman, Minn.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Catherine; one step-son; three brothers; one sister and his parents. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, March 24, 1990)
