Estherville – Services for Mrs. Richard (Mary Ellen) Hanson, 67, rural Estherville, will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Union Baptist Church, Estherville, with the Rev. Dan Swanson officiating. Burial will be in Lincoln Township Cemetery, Dolliver. She died Saturday, June 29, 1985 at Holy Family Hospital, Estherville.Friends may call after 3 p.m. Monday at Henry and Olson Funeral Home, Estherville.
She was born Oct. 12, 1917 in Emmetsburg, the daughter of John and Sylvia (Cox) Baker and graduated from Estherville High School. On June 26, 1938 she was united in marriage with Richard M. Hanson at Fairmont, Minn. She lived most of her life in the Estherville area and worked for P.G. Gray Company for 15 years. She also assisted her husband with the farming on their farm located northeast of Estherville.
Survivors include her husband, Richard, Estherville; mother, Mrs. Sylvia Baker, Estherville; two sons Jim Hanson, Winona, Minn.; Harold Hanson, Lake Jackson, Texas; two daughters Mrs. Ron (Lorraine) Hoffmeyer, Estherville; Mrs. Bob (Sandra) Hockett, Estherville; 18 grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; two brothers Lloyd Baker, Des Moines, Charles Baker, Estherville; two sisters Mrs. Beulah Hasell, Estherville, Mrs. Tony (Dorothy) Rhen, Estherville.
She was preceded in death by her father, a brother and a sister. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, July 1, 1985)
