Word was received by relatives of Harry Griffith last week that he was sinking fast. Robert left Monday for Rochester but Mr. Griffith rallied and the last report we have, the doctors think he is a little improved. (Estherville Enterprise, Estherville, IA, July 1, 1936)
Farmer is Called Monday
Harry Griffith, Well-Known Resident of Dolliver Community Dies at Rochester Hospital
Harry Griffith, 44, well known farmer of the Dolliver community died Monday [July 6, 1936] morning at the hospital at Rochester where he had been taken four weeks previous for treatment. His ailment baffled the diagnosis of the doctors, death coming from a general paralysis. For several months he had failed rapidly in health, an attack of pneumonia added to other complications lowered his resistance and he lost in the battle for his life.The tornado of April 28, struck Mr. Griffith’s farm and in his efforts to round up live stock and clear away debris he over taxed his strength. He was at the time but recently returned from an Estherville hospital, where he had undergone a throat operation.
Mr. Griffith was born on March 3, 1892, at Dows, the youngest child of Mr. and Mrs. John Griffith. The family moved to a farm just at the north edge of Estherville on the boy’s fifth birthday. He attended the Estherville elementary and high school and took up farming, first near Huntington and later in the Dolliver community. In 1917 he was married to Miss Rachel Peterson. One son Robert was born to them.
Surviving Mr. Griffith’s untimely passing are his widow and son, two sisters, Miss Hattie Griffith and Mrs. Geo. Kirchner, and one brother, Lee Griffith, also a half sister, Mrs. Chas. Lewis of Estherville.

Funeral services for Harry Griffith, 44, of near Dolliver, were held today in the Methodist church at Dolliver.Mr. Griffith died at 2 a.m. Tuesday in Rochester, Minn. The body was brought here in the Sternborg ambulance. (Estherville Enterprise, Estherville, IA, July 8, 1936)
Harry Griffth, who had been ill for about two months passed away at Rochester, Minn., where he was taken for treatment, last Monday forenoon. He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Rachel Griffith and son, Robert, who was graduated from the Dolliver high school last May. (Vindicator and Republican, Estherville, IA, July 9, 1936)
