John Eggers
Dolliver – Services for John W. [Wesley] Eggers, 84, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the United Methodist Church in Ceylon, with the Rev. Jerry Waltole officiating. Interment will be in Lincoln Township Cemetery, rural Dolliver. He died Friday, August 26, 1988 at Holy Family Hospital.

Friends may call at the Olson Funeral Home in Ceylon from 3-7 p.m. Sunday and one hour prior to services.

He was born Jan. 27, 1904 at Sperry, the son of James and Kate (Burkholder) Eggers and attended school near Sperry. He moved to Dolliver at age 11 years, then to North Dakota, then Des Moines, where he was employed at Ford Motors. On March 6, 1937 he married Ruth Mitchell at Des Moines. The couple farmed at Panora, Dexter and Knoxville before moving to Dolliver in1961. He retired from farming in 1970 and worked a milk tester until 1983. He was a member of the United Methodist Church of Ceylon and a past Farm Bureau member.

Survivors include his wife Ruth, a daughter-in-law Mrs. Eldon (Barbara) Brown, Fenton; four grandsons; two great-grandsons also step grandchildren and step great-grandchildren; three brothers: Neal, Carlisle, Hugh, Norwalk and Paul, Knoxville; one sister Bessie Eggers, Carlisle.

He was preceded in death by his son Robert, (1975); three brothers and three sisters. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, August 27, 1988)
