Armstrong – Services for Sigurd M. [Melby] Christensen, 80, formerly of the Armstrong and Dolliver area, will be held Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. in the Dolliver United Methodist Church with the Rev. Merrill Summerbell officiating. Interment will be in Lincoln Township Cemetery near Dolliver.

Friends may call after 3 p.m. Monday at the Henry and Olson Funeral Home in Armstrong.

He was born July 2, 1901 at Newall, Ia., the son of Hans and Julie (Simonsen) Christensen. He attended school in the Newall area. At the age of 14 he moved to Ringsted with his parents. On July 12, 1942 he was married to Selma Olson at Ponca, Nebr. They farmed in the Dolliver rea for 35 years before moving to Armstrong in Sept. 1968 where they continued to live until his wife’s death in July of 1977. After her death he moved to the Lutz Care Center, Fairmont, Minn. where he died Friday [Oct 2, 1981].

He was a member of the Methodist Church.

Mr. Christensen is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Beverly Rustad, Port Townsend, Wash.; and three grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife; his parents; two brothers and one sister. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, October 2, 1981)
