Old Mrs. Balmer, mother of Martin and Andrew Balmer, died at the home of Andrew Balmer Monday, July 6th. Funeral at the church Wednesday, Rev. Whitfield of Estherville preached the funeral sermon. Mrs. Balmer had been a great sufferer for a long time. She was a good Christian woman. She was 75 years old at the time of her death. (Estherville, Enterprise, Estherville, IA, July 15, 1914)
