Sten Tendal, Retired R.I. Employe, Dies
Sten Tendal, 73, native of Norway and 50-year resident of this community, died at 1:10 a.m. today at Holy Family hospital. Mr. Tendal had been hospitalized Thursday after suffering a severe stroke. He had suffered the first of a number of strokes four and a half years ago.
Mr. Tendal was born in Norway, Aug. 3, 1882, and came to the United States and the Estherville community when he was in his late teens. He was employed at the Rock Island railroad until his retirement a number of years ago. He was a member of the Estherville Lutheran church.
He is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Arthur (Gladys) Sprengeler of Milwaukee, Wis., and Mrs. Martin (Lillian) Schmidt of St. Paul, Minn.; two sons, Severt of Winona, Minn., and Leonard of Washington; a brother, Lars of Estherville and two sisters and a brother in Norway.
Sten Tendal was preceded in death by his wife, the former Ella Rongve and a son, Arthur.

Tendal Rites Saturday
Funeral services for Sen Tendal, 73, who died yesterday morning at Holy Family hospital following a lingering illness, will be conducted Saturday. Services will be held at Sandin Funeral home at 1:30 p.m. and at the Estherville Lutheran church at 2 p.m., the Rev. S. Gjerde officiating. Friends may call at Sandinís from 10 a.m. Friday until time of services Saturday. Burial will be in the Lutheran cemetery north of Estherville.
