Thor A. Lein, whom the Record spoke of last week as dying on Nov. 9th was born on the Lein farm, two miles west of Roland thirty-three years ago. He spent the greater part of his life near Roland, but left here a few years ago and took up his home near Estherville. His wife died about three years ago, leaving him with the care of two sons. For a number of years he has been a sufferer from consumption and about a year ago he returned to the home of his parents, only a shadow of his former self. Here he remained until death called to claim its victim. Thor Lein had lived a Christian life and to him death had no terrors. His remains were taken to Estherville, where they were laid to rest by the side of those of his wife. Accompanying the remains were the father, Askel A. Lein; the brother Oscar O.; the sister, Mrs. Ole J. Twedt; and the two little sons of the deceased. The Record offers consolation to the sorrowing relatives. (Roland Record, Roland, IA, November 18, 1898)

---------------------------

Thor Lein died at his home in Rowland, Story county, this state, on Wednesday of last week [November 9, 1898] and his remains brought here on Thursday for burial. He was a former resident of Ellsworth township, this county. The funeral was held at the home of his brother on Saturday. Deceased leaves two small boys to battle for themselves in this world of temptation, the mother having died some three years ago. Deceased was thirty-two years of age.
