Sam Handeland died at Ellsworth last evening of blood poisoning. The remains will be brought to this city for burial on the 5:30 train today and will be met by members of the M.W. A. Funeral services will be held tomorrow. (Estherville Evening Tribune, Estherville, IA, May 7, 1902)

The funeral of Sam Handeland was held at the Lutheran church this afternoon at one o’clock and the remains laid to rest in the Norwegian cemetery north of the city. The pall bearers were: A.S. Anderson, Ole Olson, John Reimers, John Wicks, Sigwald Amdal and Hans Lee. (Estherville Evening Tribune, May 8, 1902)

Miss Handeland, of Marshalltown, arrived this morning to attend the funeral of her brother, Sam Handeland, who died at Ellsworth Tuesday. (Estherville Democrat, Estherville, IA, May 9, 1902)
