Merle Handeland Passed Away Monday
Had Been Ill For Four Weeks From Measles and Pneumonia
Mr. and Mrs. Bert Handeland mourn the loss of their two year old son, Merle, who passed away Monday [July 21, 1924] morning at nine o’clock after an illness of four weeks. At the time of the measle epidemic the little lad contracted the disease and it developed into pneumonia. This was followed by gland trouble and it developed into pneumonia and on Saturday he was taken to the hospital for an operation from which he never recovered. Merle was born March 22, 1922. He was the youngest son of Mr. and Mrs. Bert Handeland, of this city, and was greatly loved and adorned [adored] by all his friends as well as members of his family. His absence will be greatly noticed by his parents and brothers and sister. Funeral services will be held this afternoon at two o’clock from the Norwegian church, Rev. S.A. Berge in charge. Interment will be made in the Norwegian cemetery. The Democrat extends its deepest sympathy to Mr. and Mrs. Handeland and family in their hour of sorrow.
