Trygve Evenson Dies; Rites Set Friday
Trygve (Tom) Elliott Evenson, 62, died at 5:45 a.m. Wednesday [February 10, 1971] at the Veteran’s Hospital in Sioux Falls, S.D., from a heart condition.

He was born Dec. 12, 1908, at Hoboken, N.J. to Mr. and Mrs. Martin Evenson. He was educated in Norway and at the age of 17 moved back to Gruver.

He was married Jan. 16, 1932, to Nora Bergeson at Sioux Falls, S.D. She died in March, 1940 [May3, 1940].

On Oct. 20, 1942, he was married to Marion Beeler at St. Louis, Mo.

He was a carpenter and cabinet maker at the Estherville Mill Works for a number of years.

He served in the army from November, 1942, to September, 1945. He was a member of the Estherville Lutheran Church and a member of the VFW.

He is survived by his wife, Marion; one daughter, Mrs. Richard (Joan) Ditsworth, Estherville; two sons, the Rev. Reuben Evenson, Elliott, Ill.; and Robert Evenson of Estherville; nine grandchildren; and one brother, Conrad, who lives in Norway.

Services will be held Friday at 2 p.m. at the Estherville Lutheran Church with the Rev. Oscar Engebretson officiating. Burial will be in the Estherville Lutheran Cemetery.

Friends may call at the Reese-Henry Funeral Home, Estherville, Thursday afternoon until noon on Friday when the casket will be taken to the church to lie in state until time of the service. There will be military graveside rites. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, February 11, 1971)
