Short services were held at the home of Hon. Howard Graves this forenoon and the remains were interred in the Norwegian cemetery north of town. Mr. Espeset was one of the early settlers of Emmet county and was for many years one of the county’s most prosperous and influential citizens. He at different times held the offices of county sheriff and county treasurer for several terms each. Many relatives and friends will gather about the remains today to pay their last tribute of love and respect to the memory of the dead. Knuet Espeset Dead
The death of Knuet Espeset occurred in Duluth, Friday, December 18th, the news of which caused profound sorrow in this city and county where deceased lived many years. At the time of his death he was fifty-eight years of age. His remains arrived here for interment Monday night and were laid to rest in the Norwegian cemetery north of town Tuesday. Mr. Espeset became a resident of this county early in the county’s history and was one of its most prominent figures up to the time of his removal to Duluth about six years ago, and held the offices of sheriff and treasurer for many years. He was a man of broad and liberal views and fine business capacity and was a faithful guardian of the county’s interests. His death will be deeply regretted by all old settlers in this county who remember his many acts of kindness during days of hardship, incident to early settlement of a new country. He leaves behind him a wife and two children – daughter and son – who can be assured of the warmest sympathy of the people of this city and county.
